Live translation on Google Meet, in your language, line by line
Trippi Notes team · facts checked on 2026-10-17
Translation on Google Meet exists, but it sits on the host’s plan and under the host’s settings. Translated captions exist on some Workspace editions, live on screen, and are not kept. This page is for the other case: you are in the call, you need it in your language, and you do not want to ask anyone.
What Google Meet gives you
Translated captions exist on some Workspace editions, live on screen, and are not kept.
The transcript side of this, with who can start it and who can download it, is on Google Meet transcript.
Translation on your side of the call
Open the meeting in Chrome, click the Trippi Notes icon, and turn on the translation line on the language bar. From then on each line appears with the speaker’s name, in the language it was said, with your language under it. It does not matter what plan the host has or whether they switched anything on.
- Join from the browser. Open the Meet link in Chrome. Meet already runs in the browser, so there is nothing to switch.
- Pick your language once. The choice is remembered for the next call.
- Keep the original. The line in the speaker’s language stays above the translation, so a number or a name is never only a translation.
After the call
The summary is written in the language you read, with decisions, tasks and open questions. You can ask about the meeting in your language too: “what did they say about the price?”, and the answer quotes the original lines with the translation.
Your own words
Your microphone is mixed with the tab, so your lines are in the transcript as well. If you speak your language and the others speak theirs, both sides are written, and each side gets the other in translation.
How to start
- 1Open the call in Chrome. Google Meet, Zoom in the browser, or Teams in the browser.
- 2Click the Trippi Notes icon. From that click it hears the meeting tab and your microphone, and writes each line with the speaker’s name.
- 3Read along, or read it after. The lines appear as people speak. After the call you get a summary, tasks and a follow-up draft.
Tell people you are taking notes; a sentence at the start is enough. What to say.
What Trippi Notes does on Google Meet
A live transcript in 68 languages with a translation line in yours, the summary and tasks in the language you read, and a journal with search. It hears the browser tab only: not the Google Meet desktop app, not a phone. The audio is not kept.
