Live translation

Live translation for meetings, a line under each line

Trippi Notes team · facts checked on 2026-10-17

A meeting in a language you half understand is twice the work: you listen, you translate in your head, and the next sentence has already started. Live translation takes the second job away. Each line appears in the speaker’s language with a line in yours under it, so you follow the meaning and keep the original for the words that matter.

How it works

Trippi Notes hears the meeting tab after your click, writes each line with the speaker’s name, and puts a translation under it in the language you choose. 68 languages are heard; the translation line is off by default, you turn it on once on the language bar. The summary after the call is written in the language you read, not the language of the meeting.

We need the numbers by Friday, otherwise the date slips.

Multilingual calls

Many calls are not in one language. A colleague switches to Portuguese with a client, a question comes in French. The transcript follows: each line is recognized in its own language, and the translation line stays in yours. You do not set the language of the meeting; the meeting does.

What the built-in options do

PlatformBuilt-in translationWho pays, who controls
Google MeetTranslated captions exist on some Workspace editions, live on screen, and are not kept. The organizer or host, on their plan
Microsoft TeamsTranslated captions and a translated transcript need Teams Premium on the organizer’s side. Without it, you read the original. The organizer or host, on their plan
ZoomTranslated captions need a Business Plus plan or an add-on on the host’s account, and the host turns them on.The organizer or host, on their plan

All three put translation on the host’s plan and in the host’s hands. With Trippi Notes it is on your side of the call.

How to start

  1. 1Open the call in Chrome. Google Meet, Zoom in the browser, or Teams in the browser.
  2. 2Click the Trippi Notes icon. From that click it hears the meeting tab and your microphone, and writes each line with the speaker’s name.
  3. 3Read along, or read it after. The lines appear as people speak. After the call you get a summary, tasks and a follow-up draft.

Tell people you are taking notes; a sentence at the start is enough. What to say.

What Trippi Notes does with languages

It hears 68 languages and writes a translation line in the one you choose, live, under each line. The summary, tasks and follow-up email come in the language you read. Your own words are in the transcript too. It does not replace a human interpreter for a negotiation, and it does not speak the translation out loud.

FAQ

Asked about this.

Is the translation spoken or written?+

Written, as a line under each line. There is no voice.

Do the other people see the translation?+

No. It is in your browser only.

How many languages?+

68 languages are recognized. You pick the language the translation line is written in.

Does it work for a meeting with three languages?+

Yes. Each line is recognized in its own language; the translation line stays in yours.

Is it good enough for a legal negotiation?+

It is good enough to follow and to check later. For a contract, keep an interpreter and use the transcript as a record.
