English meetings, when English is your second language

Trippi Notes team · facts checked on 2026-10-17

You understand English. Understanding a fast English meeting with four accents, jokes and half-finished sentences is another skill, and nobody gives you time to practise it. The usual result: you follow eighty percent, you do not ask about the other twenty, and you write the recap from memory in a language that is not yours.

During the meeting: read, do not only listen

With Trippi Notes the meeting is written as it goes, line by line, with the name of the speaker. Turn on the translation line and each sentence appears in your language under the English one. When someone says “we are going to park that for now”, you see what it means instead of guessing. When a number goes by, it is on the screen.

The English line stays. Read it, compare, and after a few weeks you need the translation less. The transcript is a language lesson built from your own meetings.

Speaking up

A question you did not catch is a question you cannot answer. With the text in front of you, you can reply to what was asked, not to what you think was asked. Your own lines are in the transcript too, so you can read back how you put something and improve it next time.

After the meeting: the recap in two languages

  • A summary you can read. Decisions, tasks and open questions, written in the language you read. Or in English, if that is what the team needs.
  • A follow-up email in clear English. Written from the summary, in a neutral, warm or formal tone. Read it, fix a word, send it. How the email draft works.
  • Minutes in English, done right. The usual mistakes of writing minutes in a second language, and the phrases to use instead: 20 phrases.

Ask in your language

“What did Mark say about the deadline?” You can ask about the meeting in your language, and the answer quotes the English lines with the translation under them, so you can check that the answer is right.

How to start

  1. 1Open the call in Chrome. Google Meet, Zoom in the browser, or Teams in the browser.
  2. 2Click the Trippi Notes icon. From that click it hears the meeting tab and your microphone, and writes each line with the speaker’s name.
  3. 3Read along, or read it after. The lines appear as people speak. After the call you get a summary, tasks and a follow-up draft.

Tell people you are taking notes; a sentence at the start is enough. What to say.

What Trippi Notes does for a non-native speaker

A live English transcript with your language under each line, your own words included, a summary and tasks in the language you read, a follow-up email draft in English, and a journal you can question in your language. 68 languages are recognized. It does not correct your English while you speak.

FAQ

Asked about this.

Can I read the meeting in my language and reply in English?+

Yes. The translation line is for reading. You speak as usual, and your lines are written in English.

Which language is the summary in?+

Whichever you choose. Many people read it in their language and send the follow-up in English.

Does it help with accents?+

The transcript is written from the audio, and a strong accent is usually still recognized. The glossary helps with names and product terms.

Is it only for English?+

No. Any of 68 languages can be the meeting language, and any can be the translation.
