Meeting notes in your language, from a call held in another

Trippi Notes team · facts checked on 2026-10-30

Short answer: Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams can show translated captions on some plans, but their transcripts and their own AI notes come out in the language of the call. Trippi Notes writes the transcript in the language spoken, puts a line in your language under each sentence while the call runs, and writes the summary, the tasks and the follow-up email in the language you choose. It runs in your browser tab; no bot joins the call, and the host does not need to turn anything on.

What comes out in which language

What the meeting platforms give you

Each platform can translate captions on some paid plans, and each writes its transcript and its AI notes in the language of the call. The setting belongs to the organizer, and a guest usually cannot turn it on. The details, with the plan names and the limits, are on the platform pages:

How Trippi Notes does it

It hears the meeting tab in Chrome after you click its icon, and your microphone once you allow it. Speech is recognized live in the language spoken, each line gets the speaker’s name from the meeting, and the translation line appears under it in your language. After the call, the summary, the tasks and the follow-up email are written from that transcript in the language you set for reading. The original line always stays next to the translation, so you can check a word before you send the minutes on.

A call in two languages works the same way: each side’s lines are written as spoken, and each side reads the other in translation. Spanish and English, German and English, or any two of 68.

When this is the right tool

  • You work in a second language. You follow the call, but writing the recap in that language takes an hour. Read the summary in yours, send the email in theirs. English meetings when English is not your first language.
  • Your team reads in different languages. Two people in the same call can each read the summary in their own language from the same transcript.
  • You are a guest. A customer’s Teams call, a vendor’s Zoom, a school’s Meet: the organizer’s plan and settings do not matter, because the notes are taken from your own tab. How notes without a bot work.

How to start

  1. 1Open the call in Chrome. Google Meet, Zoom in the browser, or Teams in the browser.
  2. 2Click the Trippi Notes icon. From that click it hears the meeting tab and your microphone, and writes each line with the speaker’s name.
  3. 3Read along, or read it after. The lines appear as people speak. After the call you get a summary, tasks and a follow-up draft.

Tell people you are taking notes; a sentence at the start is enough. What to say.

What Trippi Notes does, and what it does not

A live transcript in 68 languages with a translation line in yours, a summary, tasks and a follow-up email in the language you choose, and answers to questions about the meeting with quotes. It works in Google Meet, Zoom and Teams in the browser on a computer, after your click, with no bot. It does not work in the desktop apps or on a phone, does not keep the audio, and the translation is machine translation: the original line stays there to check.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does the meeting have to be in English?+

No. Any of 68 languages can be the language of the call, and any of them can be the language of your notes.

Can the summary be in a language that nobody spoke in the call?+

Yes. The summary is written from the transcript in the language you set for reading, whatever was spoken.

Do the other people see my translation?+

No. The translation line and the notes are in your browser and your journal only. Nothing is sent to the meeting.

What if the call switches languages halfway?+

The language is recognized on its own and can change during the call. Each line is written in the language it was said in.

Is machine translation good enough for minutes?+

For reading and for a first draft, yes. The original line stays next to the translation, and the summary quotes it, so a doubtful word can be checked before the minutes go out.

Does the host need to turn anything on?+

No. Trippi Notes takes the notes from your own tab, so it works as a guest and when the host’s plan has no transcription at all.
