Live translation in Teams is a Premium feature
Teams shows live captions to everyone, but translating them is part of Teams Premium — an add-on licence of roughly $10 per user per month that your organisation buys and your administrator assigns. Asking for it is a procurement conversation, not a setting.
Trippi skips that path entirely. It captions and translates the call audio in your browser, so the person who needs the translation is the person who turns it on — today, without a ticket to IT.
Teams on the web
Trippi works with Teams opened in a browser tab: teams.microsoft.com for work and school accounts, teams.live.com for personal ones, and the newer teams.cloud.microsoft address. If you normally use the desktop app, open the meeting link in Chrome instead and join from there.
Guest access counts too: joining somebody else’s Teams meeting as an external participant is exactly the case where a translated caption helps most, and it is also the case where you have no chance of getting a Premium licence.
No bot, no admin consent
Meeting-translation services that promise Teams support usually work by adding a bot to the call — which needs tenant admin approval, shows up in the participant list, and often triggers a recording notice. Trippi adds nothing to the meeting: it reads the tab audio locally and draws the translation for you alone.
