Adobe Connect does have built-in automatic captions in its HTML client: the host switches them on and picks the language. What it does not have is a second language at the same time. Running one for the speaker and another for an attendee who needs a translation means bringing in an outside captioning provider — StreamText, VITAC, SyncWords — or a human captioner, arranged and paid for by whoever runs the room. For a training session or a university lecture, that decision was made long before you joined.
One room, different languages per person
A captioning vendor produces one stream that everybody sees. That is the right shape for a regulated broadcast and the wrong shape for a room where four people each need a different language — a case that comes up constantly in training, onboarding and public-sector sessions delivered across regions.
Trippi is per-viewer by construction. Everyone who wants a translation runs their own, in their own language, and none of it touches the room or the host’s settings.
It does not depend on the host’s caption pod
Because Trippi recognises the audio of the tab, it does not matter whether the host enabled Connect’s captions, which language they chose, or whether a captioning pod is on the layout at all. If the room is making sound in your browser, there is something to translate.
The recognised original can stay visible above the translation — in a training session full of product terms and acronyms, that is what lets you tell a bad translation from an unfamiliar term.

Frequently asked questions
Does Adobe Connect translate its captions?+
No. It provides automatic captions in a language the host selects. Multiple language streams are documented as coming from third-party providers such as StreamText, VITAC or SyncWords, or from a human captioner.
Do I need to be a host or presenter?+
No. Trippi runs in your browser on the tab you are already in, so a participant can use it without any rights in the room.
Does it work with the desktop application?+
No. The room has to be open in the HTML client in a browser tab — an extension cannot reach a desktop application.
Will it interfere with the room’s own captions?+
No. Trippi listens to the audio rather than reading Connect’s caption pod, so both can be on at once.
