This policy explains what Trippi does with your data. Trippi is a browser extension that adds live translated captions to your video meetings. We keep it simple and privacy-first.

What Trippi processes

When you turn Trippi on in a meeting tab, it captures that tab's audio to produce live captions and translation. Audio is processed to generate text in real time and is not stored or sold. Captions exist only for your session and are gone when it ends.

Where the transcript lives

If you leave the transcript feature on, Trippi keeps what was said during your recent meetings — the original line, its translation and who said it — in your browser's local storage on your own computer. That copy is yours to manage: you can delete a single meeting, delete all of them, or switch the transcript off entirely in the extension's settings. Two things can send a copy to our server, and both are named in the next section.

When the text of a meeting reaches us

Two paths, and no others. First, the after-call email: if this browser is signed in to a Trippi account and you leave that option on, the transcript of a meeting is sent to that account's address once the call ends. This one is automatic — nobody presses anything — and it is switched off in the extension's settings, under Meeting transcripts. Second, the Summarize button, which you press yourself. In both cases the text is used to write the mail or the summary and is then dropped: it is not written to our database and not written to our logs. The recipient is always the address on your own account; there is no setting, anywhere, that sends a transcript to somebody else. With no account, or with the option switched off, nothing about the content of your meetings leaves your browser unless you press Summarize.

Third-party processing

To transcribe and translate speech, audio may be sent to speech-recognition and machine-translation providers solely to return captions. Building a summary — whether you pressed the button or it arrived with the after-call email — sends the text of that one meeting to a large-language-model provider for that single purpose. The email itself is delivered by our transactional mail provider, which necessarily receives the address it is going to and the message it carries. The speech, translation and summary providers process what they receive to deliver the service and do not receive your identity.

Accounts and payments

The free plan needs no account. If you upgrade to Pro, we store your email and subscription status through our payment provider to manage billing. We never store card details ourselves.

Cookies and analytics

The website uses minimal, privacy-friendly analytics to understand traffic. The extension does not track your browsing. It reports usage events — whether captions started, on which meeting platform, why they failed, and how long a session ran — so we can see what is broken for people and fix it. Never captions, meeting names, or the pages you visit. You can turn this off in the extension's settings.

The address a request came from

When your browser reaches our server, the server records the address the request came from, as any server does. We keep it for at most 60 days and for one purpose only: stopping the free allowance from being reset by reinstalling the extension. It is never used for advertising, profiling or working out where you are, and it is deleted along with everything else when an install is removed.

Your rights

You can stop processing at any time by turning the extension off, and request deletion of any account data by contacting us.
