How to pick a direction
A pair is two separate things: the language being spoken on the call, and the language you want to read. They are not the same and they change from meeting to meeting — on a client call you listen in English and read your own language, on an internal one it is often the reverse. Trippi remembers your choice and switches in two clicks from the popup.
Below are the directions people ask about most. Each page covers who is on those calls and what is specifically awkward about live translation in that direction. The language list inside the extension is wider than this set of pages.
What every direction has in common
- One spoken language is recognised at a time — the one most of the meeting is in.
- The recognised original line is shown next to the translation, so a misheard name or term is visible rather than silent.
- Live translation trails speech by one to three seconds, more on languages where the verb arrives at the end.
- Reading languages are independent per person: everyone picks their own in their own browser.
Stop guessing what they said.
