Weverse translates on its own terms: its app, its list of languages, its paid Membership.
Weverse does put auto-translated captions on lives, and they arrive as part of the paid Digital Membership for the artist you follow, inside the Weverse app. If you watch on the web, if you follow more artists than you buy memberships for, or if your language is not on their list, there is nothing to switch on. Trippi works the other way round: it takes the sound of the browser tab the live is playing in, runs its own speech recognition and writes the translation underneath — in any of its 66 languages, and without asking the platform for permission.
It follows the tab, not the platform
Trippi never integrates with Weverse. It captures the audio of whatever browser tab you point it at, which means the same extension covers a Weverse live, a rebroadcast on YouTube, a countdown on Twitch and a fancafe stream on a site nobody has ever built a translator for.
That is also why it keeps working when an artist moves a live somewhere else at the last minute: there is no integration to break, only a tab that is making sound.
Both lines, so you can check the one that matters
Machine translation of live speech gets names, slang and inside jokes wrong — in a fandom that is exactly the part you care about. Trippi can show the recognised original above its translation, so when a line reads strangely you can see the words that were actually said and judge for yourself.
Captions are drawn in your browser only. The artist does not see them, the chat does not see them, and nothing is announced in the broadcast.
What it will not do
- It does not work inside the Weverse mobile app. Trippi is a Chrome and Edge extension, so the live has to be playing in a browser tab on a computer.
- It does not translate an existing subtitle track. For a recorded video that already has subtitles, a subtitle translator is faster and more accurate — Trippi is for speech that has no subtitles yet.
- It is not a fan-sub. It is machine translation of live speech, good enough to follow a live as it happens, not to quote from.

Do I need a Weverse Membership to use this?+
Not for Trippi. A Membership is what unlocks Weverse’s own translated captions in their app; Trippi translates the audio of the tab in your browser, so it works on a free account too. Whatever the Membership gives you otherwise, it keeps giving.
Does it work in the Weverse app on my phone?+
No. Trippi is a browser extension for Chrome and Edge on a computer, so the live has to be open in a browser tab.
Will the artist or the chat see that I am using it?+
No. The subtitles are drawn over the page inside your own browser, nothing joins the broadcast and nothing is posted to the chat.
Which languages does it cover?+
66 languages, in any direction the pair allows — Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Indonesian, Spanish, Portuguese and the rest of the list. You pick the language you hear and the language you read.
