Translate a TikTok LIVE — while it is happening.

TikTok translates the text around the stream. Not the person speaking in it.

TikTok is good at translating text: captions on videos, comments, bios. That is a different machine from the one you need during a LIVE, where the content is somebody talking for an hour. Where TikTok shows a captions toggle on a LIVE at all, it writes the words in the language being spoken — so a Korean or Indonesian host stays Korean or Indonesian on your screen. There is no setting that renders a live broadcast in your language.

The web player is the part that can be translated

Most people watch TikTok on a phone, and an extension cannot reach into a mobile app. The web player is the opening: tiktok.com plays LIVEs in an ordinary browser tab, with ordinary tab audio, and that is all Trippi needs.

Once the LIVE is in a tab, the mechanism is the same as anywhere else — it recognises the speech and writes the translated line underneath, without asking TikTok for anything.

Made for hosts who do not switch to English

The LIVEs worth translating are the ones where the host is talking naturally to their own audience — a shopping stream in Bahasa, a creator answering questions in Korean, a musician in Portuguese. Those are exactly the ones that never get an English track, because the host is not performing for a foreign audience at all.

Trippi can also show the recognised original above the translation, which is how you tell a mistranslation from a product name or a username being read out loud.

What it will not do

• It does not work in the TikTok mobile app. The LIVE has to be open in a browser tab on a computer.
• It does not translate video captions on ordinary TikTok posts — those already have a text track, and a subtitle translator handles them better.
• It writes nothing to the chat, sends no gift and does not appear in the viewer list.
