Lecture notes from Zoom and Teams
Trippi Notes team · facts checked on 2026-10-01
An online lecture moves at the lecturer’s speed, not yours. If the course is in your second language, you spend half the time translating in your head and the other half catching up. Trippi Notes writes the lecture as it happens, adds a line in your language under each sentence, and keeps every lecture in one journal you can ask questions of before the exam.
First: the rules of your course
Universities and lecturers have rules about recording and transcribing classes, and they differ. Some allow it, some allow it for personal study only, some ask you to request permission. Check your course rules or ask the lecturer. If a seminar is small, tell the group you take notes (what to say and a line to paste).
Trippi Notes does not keep the audio or video of the lecture; it turns speech into text for you. Even so, the notes are for your own study. Do not share a lecturer’s words more widely than the course allows.
Open the lecture in the browser
Trippi Notes is a Chrome extension, so it hears a browser tab, not a desktop app. Open the lecture link in Chrome:
- Zoom. If the link tries to open the Zoom app, cancel and use the option to join from your browser. Some hosts switch that option off; then ask, or use the app without Trippi Notes.
- Microsoft Teams. Open the meeting link in Chrome and choose to continue in the browser.
- Google Meet. It already runs in the browser.
Then click the Trippi Notes icon. Chrome lets it hear the tab only after that click.
A lecture in your second language
Each line appears with a translation under it in your language. You can follow the lecturer in their words and check the meaning without stopping. It hears 68 languages, so a guest speaker or a question from a classmate in another language is written too.
Prof. Weber 10:42 — Die Elastizität hängt hier vom Zeitraum ab.
Elasticity here depends on the time period.
Add the course terms to your glossary, for example names, formulas said out loud, or a subject word that gets misheard. They are then spelled your way in every lecture.
After the lecture
- Summary. A short overview, the main ideas, and open questions, written in the language you read. Use your own request if you want it as study notes, for example “list the definitions and one example for each”.
- Ask AI about this lecture. “What were the three causes she gave?” The answer quotes the lines, which jump to the moment in the transcript.
- Export. Copy the transcript or summary as Markdown or plain text into your own notes, or open the lecture in ChatGPT or Claude.
Before the exam: ask across all lectures
Every lecture stays in your journal, with search. Ask one question across all of them: “Where did we cover price elasticity?” or “What examples were given for market failure?” The answer points to the lectures and the lines. It is a quicker way to find what you missed than scrolling through hours of video.
Treat it as a study aid, not a replacement for going to class. You still need to think about the material; the notes just mean you are not frozen trying to write it all down.
How to start
- 1Open the call in Chrome. Google Meet, Zoom in the browser, or Microsoft Teams in the browser.
- 2Click the Trippi Notes icon. From that click it hears the meeting tab and writes each line with the speaker’s name.
- 3Pick the template after the call. The summary is written by the template you choose, in the language you read.
What Trippi Notes does in a lecture
It hears the lecture tab in Chrome after your click, on Zoom, Teams or Google Meet in the browser. You get the transcript with speaker names and times, a translation line in your language, a summary, and questions across all lectures in your journal. It does not work in the Zoom or Teams desktop apps or on a phone, and it does not keep the audio or video.
