Private meeting notes: yours, and only yours
Trippi Notes team · facts checked on 2026-10-17
The notes feature inside Teams is visible to the meeting. The transcript the organizer starts belongs to the organizer. If you want notes that are yours, that nobody in the call can see, that your admin does not administer, they have to live on your side of the screen.
What “private” means here
- Nobody in the call sees it. The transcript is written in your browser. Nothing is added to the meeting, nothing shows on anyone’s screen.
- Not in the company tenant. It is not a Teams note, not a Meet document in the organizer’s Drive, not a Zoom cloud file. It is in your Trippi Notes journal, under your account.
- Shared only when you share. A read-only link exists only if you create it. On a personal plan there is no team to see it.
How private is the server copy
By default the text (not audio) is kept in your journal for 90 days so you can search it from any device. You can set 30, 180 or 365 days, or switch the archive off; then the transcript stays in your browser only, and nothing is kept on our server after the meeting. The policy names who processes the speech and the summaries. The seven questions.
Private does not mean secret
Your notes being private is about who can read them. It is not a reason to hide that you take them. Tell the people in the call, in one sentence, every time. In some places it is the law; everywhere it is the decent thing. What to say.
Private notes on each platform
| Platform | Built-in notes | Your private notes |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Teams | Meeting notes are shared with the meeting; the transcript belongs to the organizer | Join in the browser, click the icon; your transcript, your journal |
| Google Meet | Transcript and Gemini notes go to the organizer’s Drive | Same: your tab, your notes |
| Zoom | Transcript and recording belong to the host | Same, via “join from your browser” |
Your own words, too
Your microphone is mixed with the tab, so your side of the conversation is in your notes as well. That is also private: it is not sent to the meeting, it is written for you.
What Trippi Notes does for private notes
A transcript in your browser, with your words, visible to nobody in the call; a journal under your account with retention you set or switch off; deletion in your hands; a link only if you make one. Nothing joins the meeting, the audio is not kept.
FAQ
Asked about this.
Can the meeting organizer see my notes?+
No. They are in your browser and your journal, not in the meeting.
Can my IT admin see them?+
Not through Teams, Meet or Zoom. Trippi Notes is not administered by your company unless you are on a team plan your company runs.
Can I keep notes only in my browser, nothing on your server?+
Yes. Switch the archive off in settings.
Is it OK to take private notes without telling anyone?+
Tell people. Private is about who reads the notes, not about hiding them.
