How to get a Microsoft Teams transcript in Persian

Trippi Notes team · facts checked on 2026-10-01

Microsoft Teams does not transcribe Persian. Its list of supported spoken languages for transcription and live captions runs from Arabic to Welsh, and Persian is not on it (Microsoft Support, checked on 1 October 2026). Below: why the usual workarounds fall short, and how to get a Persian transcript from Teams in the browser.

What Teams does offer in Persian

Not much. Teams uses one list of spoken languages for both transcription and live captions (Microsoft Support: live captions), and Persian is not on it. Live translated captions and translated transcripts are Teams Premium features on the organizer’s licence, but they start from the spoken language Teams recognises (Microsoft Learn), so they do not help when the speech is in Persian.

The admin cannot fix it either: the Transcription policy turns the feature on or off, it does not add languages.

What people try instead

  • Picking a nearby language. Teams asks for the spoken language when transcription starts and writes in that language. Choosing English for a call in Persian does not give you Persian text.
  • Uploading a recording to a transcription service. The recording sits in the organizer’s storage. It works only if the call was recorded and the file is shared with you, and everyone has to agree to being recorded.
  • One person takes notes. Fine for a short call. In a long one the note taker stops taking part, and the notes say what they understood.

Who needs this

Persian-speaking teams and founders in Canada, Germany, the UK and the US often talk among themselves in Persian and with everyone else in English. The internal call is where the plan is agreed, and it is the one no built-in transcript writes down.

How Trippi Notes writes a Persian transcript

  1. 1Open Teams in the browser. Open the meeting link and choose Continue on this browser. Microsoft supports Teams on the web in Edge and Chrome.
  2. 2Click the Trippi Notes icon. Click the icon in the Chrome toolbar once the call starts. Chrome lets the extension hear the tab only after that click.
  3. 3Set Persian as the language you hear. Choose فارسی on the language bar. It is a hint, not a lock: if someone switches to English, that is written down too.
  4. 4Turn on translation if you want it. Tick translation and pick the language you read best. Each line then gets a second line in that language.
  5. 5Read the notes after the call. The transcript with names and times, a summary, tasks with owners and a follow-up draft are in your journal.

The transcript is written in Persian, as it was said, with the speaker’s name and the time on every line. The summary is written in the language you read: the one you translate into, or your browser’s language if translation is off. No bot joins the call and no participant is added. Still, tell people you are taking notes. It is good manners, and in some places it is the law: AI note taker consent.

What a line looks like

پیشنهاد قیمت جدید را تا پنج‌شنبه برایتان می‌فرستیم.We will send you the new price offer by Thursday.

The Persian line is what was said; the line under it is the translation, shown when translation into English is on. After the call, a line like this becomes a decision or a task with an owner in the summary, and Ask AI answers questions about the call with quotes that jump back to the moment.

Notes on Persian

  • Right to left. Persian runs right to left and the transcript keeps it as Persian text. When you paste an export into an editor, set the paragraph to right-to-left so mixed lines with English names read in order.
  • Dari and Persian. The list has one entry, فارسی. Dari speakers can use it; accents differ, so check names and numbers against the call.

Persian on the other platforms

Google Meet does not transcribe Persian either, though its live captions list it, marked beta. Zoom has the same gap: Zoom transcript in Persian. The whole picture is in the language table.

What Trippi Notes does with a Persian call

A transcript in Persian with names and times, an optional translation line in your language, and after the call a summary by template — overview, decisions, tasks with owners, open questions. Export as Markdown or plain text, or open the meeting in ChatGPT or Claude. Honest limits: it works in Chrome on a computer, with Microsoft Teams in the browser, not the desktop app, and it writes what plays in the meeting tab.

FAQ

Asked about this.

Does Microsoft Teams transcribe Persian?+

No. Persian is not on the Teams list of spoken languages for transcription or live captions, and Teams Premium translation starts from a language Teams recognises.

How do I get a Persian transcript of a Teams call?+

Open the call in the browser, click the Trippi Notes icon and set Persian as the language you hear. Each line is written with the speaker’s name and the time. No bot joins; tell people you are taking notes (why).

Does Trippi Notes work in the Teams desktop app?+

No. It is a Chrome extension and hears a browser tab. Open the meeting link and choose Continue on this browser.

Does it understand Dari?+

The language list has one Persian entry and no separate Dari. Dari speech is close to it, but accuracy can drop on strong accents; check key lines against the call.
