How to get a Zoom transcript in Thai
Trippi Notes team · facts checked on 2026-10-01
Zoom transcribes cloud recordings in 19 languages, and Thai is not one of them (Zoom Support, checked on 1 October 2026). Zoom’s live captions do understand Thai (Zoom Support), but captions cannot be saved after the call. Below: what Zoom offers in Thai, what people try instead, and how to get a Thai transcript from Zoom in the browser.
What Zoom does offer in Thai
Live captions. Zoom’s automated captions list Thai (Zoom Support: automated captions), so you can read the call as it happens. Since May 2026 captions are a live feature only and cannot be saved after the meeting (Zoom Support: May 2026 changes).
Translated captions from Thai exist on Business Plus and Enterprise plans, or with the Translated Captions add-on (Zoom Support: translated captions). They are live and are not saved either.
The in-meeting transcript. The host can turn on Zoom’s meeting transcript, and participants can request it (Zoom Support). Zoom’s help page for it does not publish a language list, so we do not claim it works in Thai.
What people try instead
- Changing the transcript language. The host can change the language of a cloud-recording transcript and have it made again, but only to one of the 19 languages. Thai is not one of them.
- Keeping the English transcript. A cloud recording is transcribed in English by default. Run on Thai speech, that file does not give you what was said.
- Uploading a recording to a transcription service. It needs a recording, which the host owns, and a step after every call. Everyone on the call has to agree to being recorded.
- Asking the host. If you are a participant, you get Zoom’s files only if the host records, turns on the transcript and shares it.
Who needs this
Thai hotel groups, manufacturers and agencies work with partners abroad, and their own team calls happen in Thai. The person who reports to the foreign partner needs the decisions in English without rewriting an hour of talk.
How Trippi Notes writes a Thai transcript
- 1Open Zoom in the browser. Click the meeting link, cancel the prompt to open the app and choose Join from your browser. The host or admin can switch this link off; then ask them to allow it.
- 2Click the Trippi Notes icon. Click the icon in the Chrome toolbar once the call starts. Chrome lets the extension hear the tab only after that click.
- 3Set Thai as the language you hear. Choose ไทย on the language bar. It is a hint, not a lock: if someone switches to English, that is written down too.
- 4Turn on translation if you want it. Tick translation and pick the language you read best. Each line then gets a second line in that language.
- 5Read the notes after the call. The transcript with names and times, a summary, tasks with owners and a follow-up draft are in your journal.
The transcript is written in Thai, as it was said, with the speaker’s name and the time on every line. The summary is written in the language you read: the one you translate into, or your browser’s language if translation is off. No bot joins the call and no participant is added. Still, tell people you are taking notes. It is good manners, and in some places it is the law: AI note taker consent.
What a line looks like
Somchai, 15:40
เราจะส่งใบเสนอราคาใหม่ภายในวันศุกร์นี้ครับWe will send the new quotation by this Friday.
The Thai line is what was said; the line under it is the translation, shown when translation into English is on. After the call, a line like this becomes a decision or a task with an owner in the summary, and Ask AI answers questions about the call with quotes that jump back to the moment.
Notes on Thai
- No spaces between words. Thai is written without spaces between words, so a transcript line looks like one long run of text. That is normal Thai writing, not a glitch.
- Polite particles. ครับ and ค่ะ close many sentences and show the speaker’s gender and politeness. The English line drops them.
Thai on the other platforms
Google Meet has the same gap: Google Meet transcript in Thai. Teams does: Thai is on its list of spoken languages, if the organizer’s policy allows transcription. The whole picture is in the language table.
What Trippi Notes does with a Thai call
A transcript in Thai with names and times, an optional translation line in your language, and after the call a summary by template — overview, decisions, tasks with owners, open questions. Export as Markdown or plain text, or open the meeting in ChatGPT or Claude. Honest limits: it works in Chrome on a computer, with Zoom in the browser, not the desktop app, and it writes what plays in the meeting tab.
FAQ
Asked about this.
Does Zoom transcribe Thai?+
Not in the cloud-recording transcript: Thai is not among its 19 languages. Zoom’s live captions list Thai, but since May 2026 captions cannot be saved.
How do I get a Thai transcript of a Zoom call?+
Open the call in the browser, click the Trippi Notes icon and set Thai as the language you hear. Each line is written with the speaker’s name and the time. No bot joins; tell people you are taking notes (why).
Do I need the Zoom app?+
No — the opposite. Trippi Notes hears a browser tab, so join with Join from your browser. If that link is missing, the host or admin has switched it off.
Why are there no spaces in the Thai lines?+
Thai is written that way: spaces separate phrases, not words. The transcript follows normal Thai writing.
