Notes for sales calls, without a bot
Trippi Notes team · facts checked on 2026-10-01
A first call is fragile. The prospect agreed to thirty minutes with someone they do not know yet, and then a second name appears in the list: a note-taker bot. Some people shrug. Some ask what it is. Some start choosing their words. Trippi Notes takes the notes from your browser tab instead, so the call has the people it was meant to have.
Why a bot costs you on a first call
On a first call you want the prospect to talk: about the problem, the old tool, the internal politics. A bot in the participant list is a reminder that every word is being kept. People in procurement, legal or healthcare often have rules about it, and some hosts keep bots in the lobby by default. If your bot is stuck there, you have no notes at all.
A tab-based note taker avoids both problems. It is not a participant, so there is nothing to admit and nothing to explain on screen. You still tell the prospect you take notes (what to say and a line to paste); a sentence from a person feels very different from a bot that arrived first.
A sales-call summary that fits on one screen
Pick the sales call template after the call. It pulls out the things your manager asks about on Monday:
Sales call — [company], [date] Pain: what problem they described, in their words Current solution: what they use now and what is wrong with it Budget: what was said about money, ranges, timing of the budget Decision maker: who decides, who else is involved, how they buy Timeline: when they need it working Objections: concerns they raised, and what we answered Next step: what happens next, who does it, by when Quotes: two or three lines worth repeating to the team
If something was not said, the summary says it was not said, which is useful in itself: no budget on a first call is a question for the second. The full template, with notes on each field, is on the sales call template page.
The follow-up email, written while you still remember
After the call, Trippi Notes drafts a follow-up email from the transcript: a thank-you, what you understood, what you agreed, and the next step with a date. You read it, fix the tone, and send it from your own mail. It does not send anything for you.
Hi Anna, thanks for the time today. What I took away: your team spends about a day a week merging reports from three regions, and the current tool does not handle the Spanish and German calls. You would like to see a pilot with two teams before the budget review. Next step: I will send the pilot plan by Thursday, and you will check who from IT should join the next call.
More examples are in follow-up email after a meeting.
Tasks that leave the call with an owner
The task list comes from what people actually said: “I will send the security questionnaire”, “we will check with finance”. Each task has an owner, yours or theirs. Send your tasks to Linear, Jira or Asana, or copy the summary as Markdown and paste it into your CRM yourself. Trippi Notes does not connect to a CRM.
Calls in another language
If the prospect switches to their own language with a colleague, the transcript keeps going: 68 languages, with a translation line under each line in your language. The summary is written in the language you read, so a call in Portuguese can still give your team an English summary.
How to start
- 1Open the call in Chrome. Google Meet, Zoom in the browser, or Microsoft Teams in the browser.
- 2Click the Trippi Notes icon. From that click it hears the meeting tab and writes each line with the speaker’s name.
- 3Pick the template after the call. The summary is written by the template you choose, in the language you read.
What Trippi Notes does on a sales call, and what it does not
It hears the meeting tab in Chrome after your click: Google Meet, Zoom or Teams in the browser. You get the transcript with names and times, a summary by the sales call template, tasks, and a follow-up email draft. It does not work in the Zoom or Teams desktop apps, it does not keep the audio, and it does not write into a CRM. Your own microphone is not part of the transcript, so the notes are what the prospect said.
FAQ
Asked about this.
Will the prospect see a bot?+
No. Nothing joins the call. Tell them you take notes anyway; a short sentence at the start is enough.
Can it fill in budget and decision maker for me?+
It writes what was said about them. If budget was not discussed, the summary says so, and that is your question for the next call.
Does it send the follow-up email?+
No. It drafts it; you edit and send it from your own mail.
Does it work with the Zoom desktop app?+
No. Join the call in Chrome; the browser version of Zoom works.
Can I ask about a deal across several calls?+
Yes. Ask a question across all meetings in your journal, for example “what did Acme say about security?”, and the answer quotes the calls.
