The follow-up email after a sales call

Trippi Notes team · facts checked on 2026-10-17

The best sales follow-up is written by the person with the best memory of the call, five minutes after it ends. That person is rarely you after the fourth call of the day. The transcript remembers for you: the pain in the prospect’s words, the objection and your answer, the next step they agreed to.

After a discovery call

Subject: What I heard, and a next step

Hi Tom,

Thanks for walking me through how the team works today. What I heard: three regions send reports in three formats, someone merges them by hand every Friday, and the Spanish calls are not covered by the current tool at all.

You said a pilot with two teams would be the way to test this before the Q1 budget review. I will send a pilot outline by Thursday. Could you tell me who from IT should see it?

Best,
Sara

After a demo

Subject: Demo follow-up and the two questions you raised

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the time today. Two questions came up that I owe you answers on: data residency for the EU team, and whether the export works with your reporting tool. I will have both by Wednesday.

You mentioned the decision sits with you and Priya, and that you would want to start before the end of the quarter. If that holds, the pilot could begin the week of the 27th.

After an objection

Subject: On the price point

Hi Tom,

You were clear that the price per seat is higher than what you pay now. Fair. What I would like to put next to it is the Friday merge: about a day a week, by your count. If the pilot does not remove most of that, the price is not worth it, and we should both know that early.

Pilot outline by Thursday, as agreed.

Written from the call

With Trippi Notes the sales call summary already has pain, current tool, budget, decision maker, timeline, objections and next step, each from the transcript. The follow-up is written from it: the prospect’s wording, the objection you handled, the date you both said. Pick the tone, pick the language, change it in words, send it in your name or open it in your mail. The sales call template.

Tasks from the call (yours and the prospect’s) go to Jira, Asana or Linear; the summary copies as Markdown or plain text into your CRM.

Sending from Trippi Notes is part of the paid plans and goes to people from the meeting or from your contacts, in your name, with replies to you. Copying the email or opening it in Gmail, Outlook or your mail app works on every plan and for any address.

How to start

  1. 1Build the summary. After the call, the summary has decisions, open questions and action items. The email is written from it.
  2. 2Write the email. Pick the tone and language, tick what goes in, and the draft appears with the attendees already in To.
  3. 3Read, adjust, send. Change it in words (“shorter, drop the budget point”), then send from Trippi Notes or open it in your mail.

What Trippi Notes does after a sales call

A summary by the sales call template, a follow-up email with the prospect’s words and the agreed next step, tasks for both sides, and sending from Trippi Notes with a cancel window. No bot on the prospect’s screen; your own voice is in the transcript, so your answers to objections are there too.

FAQ

Asked about this.

How long should a sales follow-up be?+

Under 120 words. One thing you heard, one answer you owe, one next step with a date.

Can it include what the prospect said about budget?+

If budget was discussed, the summary has it and the email can quote it. If it was not, the summary says so, and that is your next question.

Can I send it from my CRM instead?+

Copy the email and send it from wherever you send mail. Sending from Trippi Notes is optional.

Does the prospect see a bot during the call?+

No. Nothing joins the call. Tell them you take notes anyway.
