Live meeting transcription, with names, while the call is on

Trippi Notes team · facts checked on 2026-10-17

Most “transcription” arrives after the call, as a file the host has to download. Live transcription is different: the words appear while people speak, with the name of who said them, so you can follow a fast call, catch a number you missed, or read back a sentence that went by too quickly. Trippi Notes does this from your browser tab.

What “live” means here

A line appears a second or two after it is said, with the speaker’s name and the time from the start of the call. You can scroll back during the meeting. Nothing has to finish first, nothing is downloaded later. The built-in options on Google Meet, Zoom and Teams are either captions that disappear, or a transcript that belongs to the organizer; see Google Meet, Zoom and Teams for how each one works and who can download it.

Who said what

Speaker names come from the meeting itself: the tile that lights up when someone talks. That is why the transcript works for a call with six people, and why your own lines are in it too: your microphone is mixed with the tab, so what you said is written under your name, not lost.

You 00:14:09 — I will ping legal right after this.

When you need it live

  • A number or a name went by. Scroll up and read it instead of asking people to repeat.
  • The call is in your second language. Turn on the translation line and read each sentence in your language, under the original. Live translation.
  • You hear less well, or you lose focus. A running text of the call keeps you in it. The transcript is yours, nobody else sees it.
  • You are not the host. The platform’s own transcript needs the organizer. Yours does not. Teams, Zoom.

Terms it should spell right

Product names, people, internal words: add them to the glossary once, and the transcript spells them your way in every call. Up to a hundred terms.

After the call

The transcript stays in your journal with search. From it you get a summary by the template you choose, tasks with owners and dates, a follow-up email draft, and answers to questions like “what did we decide about the deadline?” with quotes that jump to the line.

How to start

  1. 1Open the call in Chrome. Google Meet, Zoom in the browser, or Teams in the browser.
  2. 2Click the Trippi Notes icon. From that click it hears the meeting tab and your microphone, and writes each line with the speaker’s name.
  3. 3Read along, or read it after. The lines appear as people speak. After the call you get a summary, tasks and a follow-up draft.

Tell people you are taking notes; a sentence at the start is enough. What to say.

What Trippi Notes does, and what it does not

It hears the meeting tab in Chrome after your click, on Google Meet, Zoom in the browser and Teams in the browser, in 68 languages. It writes the transcript live, with names and times, and mixes in your microphone. It does not keep the audio, does not join the call as a participant, and does not work in the Zoom or Teams desktop apps.

FAQ

Asked about this.

Is there a delay?+

A second or two. The line appears while the speaker is still talking, and is corrected if the end of the sentence changes its meaning.

Does everyone in the call see the transcript?+

No. It is in your browser only. Share a link to the meeting page afterwards if you want to.

Does it work in the Zoom app?+

No. Join from the browser; the “join from your browser” link on the Zoom page works.

Do I need to be the host?+

No. Any participant can use it, because it listens to the tab, not to the platform’s transcript.
