Join from your browser
Zoom prefers to hand you to the desktop app, and the browser link is deliberately quiet. On the join page take “Join from your browser” — that is the client Cue can work with, and it is worth trying the link a day early.
Allow the Zoom site once
The extension asks for access to zoom.us the first time you use it there. It is a one-time question, and it is Chrome asking, not us.
Click the icon and start
The window opens over the call, and the first question aimed at you turns into a card.

Pick one with a real cost, say what you knew at the time, and end on what you changed afterwards — the recovery is what they are listening for.

An instruction like “talk us through” never carries a question mark, and recognised speech does not always punctuate either. That is exactly why the local filter watches for imperatives and not only for the question mark.

It does not need your account plan
Zoom’s own assistant features depend on a licence and on what the account owner switched on. In an interview that account is not yours anyway — Cue depends on neither.
It joins nothing
No bot in the participant list, no recording consent prompt for the room, nothing for the host to approve.
It works for the guest, not the host
You are the guest in an interview, and that is exactly who Cue is for: whoever is sitting in the tab, with no rights over the call at all.

The icon does nothing on Zoom
You are most likely in the desktop app, not in a tab. Check that the call is running inside your browser — the address bar should show zoom.us.
Cue disappeared after the page reloaded
The Zoom web client reloads on some transitions. If you declined the one-time site access, the extension has to be started again by clicking the icon; granting the access keeps it available across reloads.
The window opened but hears nothing
Zoom’s audio has to be playing in that tab — check that you joined with computer audio and that the tab is not muted.

Where the audio goes
From your browser straight to our speech-to-text provider over an encrypted connection. It does not pass through our servers, and it is never recorded. The recognised lines become one prompt for the model; that window and the answer are kept for 30 days and then deleted.

Why does the desktop app not work?+
Because it is not a browser page. Chrome extensions can only see tabs, and the desktop client is a separate application — this is a hard limit, not a missing feature.
The recruiter sent a link that opens the app. What now?+
Open the link, then take “Join from your browser” on the page it lands on. If the option is hidden, adding ?browser=1 to the join link usually brings it back — and asking the recruiter for a browser link is not a strange request.
Does Zoom know Cue is running?+
There is nothing to tell it: no bot joins, no API is called, nothing is sent to Zoom. The extension listens to the sound your browser is already playing.
Does it work in a Zoom interview with several interviewers?+
Yes, and that is where the ownership check earns its place: questions put to another panellist do not become cards.
