Meeting minutes
ChatGPT prompts for meeting minutes that actually work
Trippi Notes team · facts checked on 2026-10-17
“Summarize this meeting” gives you a summary of a meeting. It does not give you the decisions in the past tense, the tasks with owners, or the email you need to send in ten minutes. A good prompt names the shape of the answer and forbids invention. These fourteen are the ones Trippi Notes uses as one-click templates; they work pasted into ChatGPT or Claude too.
How to use them
- 1Get the transcript. From your platform, or written live from the browser with Trippi Notes. ChatGPT cannot listen to the call itself.
- 2Paste the transcript, then the prompt. Long transcript? Paste it in parts and say “wait for the rest”.
- 3Check names and dates. A model is good at structure and bad at a date it only half heard. The quote lines are there to check.
The prompts
Quick recap
Give me a five-line recap of this meeting: what it was about, the two or three main points, and what happens next. Plain language, no headings.
Detailed recap
Write a detailed recap of this meeting with these headings: Context, Discussion by topic, Decisions, Action items (owner, due date), Open questions. Keep names and dates exactly as said. If something was not discussed, say so.
Recap with quotes
Summarize this meeting by topic. Under each topic, add one or two short quotes from the transcript, with the speaker’s name, that show what was actually said. Do not invent quotes.
Summary and action items
Write a short summary of this meeting, then a list of action items. Each item: what, who, by when, and the sentence in the transcript it comes from. Mark items with no owner as “owner needed”.
Project status
From this meeting, write a project status update for someone who was not there: what is on track, what is at risk, what is blocked and by whom, and the next milestone with its date.
What to improve
Read this meeting as a facilitator. List what made it slow or unclear, and three concrete changes for the next one. Be specific and kind; refer to the transcript.
Action items
List every commitment made in this meeting as an action item: task, owner, due date if given. Separate tasks for us and tasks for the other side. Quote the line each one comes from.
Email to attendees
Write a follow-up email to the attendees of this meeting: thank them, state the decisions in one line each, list action items with owners and dates, and name the next step. Neutral tone, under 200 words.
Presentation outline
Turn this meeting into a presentation outline of six to eight slides: one line per slide title, three bullet points each, built only from what was said.
Next meeting agenda
Write the agenda for the next meeting from this one: open questions, items that were postponed, action items due by then, and one line on the goal of the meeting.
Interview recap
This is a job interview. Write a recap: background, answers to each main question in brief, concrete examples the candidate gave, concerns raised, what the candidate asked. Do not rate the candidate; report what was said.
Tracker ticket
From this meeting, write one ticket for a task tracker: title, description with context, acceptance criteria, and who asked for it. Use the words from the transcript.
Key points
List the ten most important points of this meeting, each in one sentence, in the order they were said.
Decisions made
List every decision made in this meeting, one line each, with who made it and whether anyone disagreed. Then list what was discussed but not decided.
For several meetings at once
Thirteen more prompts work across a period or a set of meetings: meetings overview, still unresolved, who promised what, what changed between meetings, report for a manager. In ChatGPT that means pasting several transcripts; in Trippi Notes it is a period picker. The weekly report and who promised what.
Save your own
In Trippi Notes any question you ask can be saved as a template with a name and a group, and a prompt builder writes a reusable prompt from a description: who it is for, what shape, what to focus on. Your templates sit next to the built-in ones.
How to start
- 1Open the call in Chrome. Google Meet, Zoom in the browser, or Teams in the browser.
- 2Click the Trippi Notes icon. It hears the meeting tab and your microphone and writes each line with the speaker’s name.
- 3Build the summary after the call. Pick a template, or let it guess from the meeting name, and read the result in your language.
Where these prompts live in Trippi Notes
Each prompt is a button on the meeting page and in the journal; the answer comes with quotes that jump to the line, in the language you choose. You can save your own prompts and build new ones. Opening a meeting in ChatGPT or Claude with one click is also there, for when you want their window instead.
