Recording the meeting: not planned, and why

People search for “record a Teams meeting with transcript” because the transcript is what they want and the recording is how they think they get it. Trippi Notes skips the recording: the transcript is written live, from your browser, with names, and the audio is not kept. This page is on the roadmap list to say clearly that the recording is not coming, and what to do instead.
Why no recording
- Privacy. An audio file of a meeting is the most sensitive thing a note taker can hold. We would rather hold the text, with a retention you set, than voices.
- Consent. Much of the demand for recording is “without the host knowing” or “without permission”. We do not build for that. Consent and where note takers are banned.
- You rarely need it. A recording is replayed once, to find the sentence. The transcript has the sentence, with the name and the time, and a search box.

When a recording is the right tool
Training videos, legal proceedings where a recording is required, and anything where tone of voice is the evidence. For those, use the platform’s own recording with the host’s consent, or a tool built for recording. Trippi Notes can transcribe the recording afterwards once uploads ship: transcribe a recording.

Not with Trippi Notes, and we would not advise it with anything. Tell people you take notes.
