A course is captioned in the language it is taught in.
Platforms caption a lecture in the language of the lecturer, and a paid course sometimes adds subtitles in a handful of languages the publisher chose. If your language is not on that list — or the class is a live seminar rather than a polished recording — nothing translates it for you. Trippi works from the tab audio, so it makes no difference whether the class sits on a course platform, a university stream or a Zoom seminar.
Why the original line matters more here than in a meeting
In a lecture you are usually learning the language as well as the subject, and a translation that replaces the original takes the practice away. Trippi can show both lines at once — the sentence as it was said and the sentence as it was translated — which turns a class you cannot follow into a class you can follow while still hearing the real thing.
Terminology is the other reason. Machine translation picks one rendering of a technical term, and in a lecture that term is the point. Reading the original underneath is what catches it when the translation drifts.
Live seminars and recorded courses both work
A recorded course plays through the tab like anything else and gets the same subtitles, so you can pause, re-read a line and carry on.
A live seminar is where it earns its place: there is nobody to add subtitles afterwards, and the lecturer is not going to slow down for one person in the room.

Yes. Dual subtitles keep the spoken line under the translated one, which is the setting most people learning the language leave on.
Does it work on a university stream or an LMS?+
If it plays audio in a browser tab, yes — it does not need to know which platform it is.
Can I turn the lecture into notes?+
Yes — that is the usual reason to keep it. After the class you get the full transcript, bilingual notes with the original next to the translation, and a summary in the language you read. See notes and summaries.
