Job interviews

The one call where asking again costs you the offer.

Live translated subtitles for a job interview in the browser: you read the question in your language while it is being asked, and answer in your own words.

You know the language. You do not know it under this much pressure.

An interview is the worst possible listening exercise: an unfamiliar accent, a bad connection, terms you have only ever read, and a question you get one chance to answer. Asking a third time reads as “does not understand English” — even when the honest problem is one word in one sentence. Subtitles remove that particular failure and leave the interview itself intact.

What it does, and what it deliberately does not

  • It shows what was said: every question as subtitles in your language, the original kept underneath so you can check a term yourself.
  • It does not suggest answers. There is no copilot here, no prompt, no generated reply — what you say stays yours, and an interviewer would be right to object if it were otherwise.
  • It does not join the call. Nothing appears in the participant list, and nobody sees the subtitles but you.
  • It does not record you. Audio becomes subtitles and is not stored; the transcript, if you keep it, stays in your browser.

Set it up the day before, not five minutes before

Install the extension and run one test call — open any video in a tab, press Start captions and check that the pair of languages is right. Five minutes the day before removes the one risk that actually matters: fiddling with settings while the interviewer waits.

Pick the pair before the call: the language they will speak, and yours. Trippi covers 66 languages, and the pair is switched from the caption window without restarting anything.

The free tier is 25 minutes a month — enough for a screening call. A full technical round is longer, and the hour packs exist for exactly that: buy hours for the day you need them, not as a habit.

It works the same way in a technical round

Terms survive: a question about a framework, a database or a deadline keeps the original line under the translation, so a word you only know in English is right there.

A panel works too — three interviewers on a Teams call are three speakers, and each line carries the name of whoever said it.

How it works

Google Meet, Zoom on the web or Teams on the web — click the icon and press Start captions.

3

Read every question in your language

Each question appears as subtitles in your language, with the original line underneath.

Frequently asked questions

Will the interviewer know I am using it?+

Nothing joins the call and nothing appears in the participant list. The subtitles are drawn in your own browser tab and are visible to you only.

Does it tell me what to answer?+

No, and that is deliberate. Trippi shows what was said. Suggesting answers is a different product and a different promise — this one is about understanding the question.

Which platforms can I use it on?+

Google Meet, Zoom on the web, Microsoft Teams on the web, Webex and Discord — anything that runs in a browser tab. Desktop applications are not supported: it takes the sound of the tab.

Is my interview recorded or stored?+

No. Audio is turned into subtitles as it plays and is not kept. A transcript is saved only if you keep it, and it stays in your browser.

How much does one interview cost?+

The free tier gives 25 minutes a month. Longer rounds are covered by hour packs: 10 hours for $6, 25 for $12, 70 for $24, and a subscription can be cancelled in one click.

Stop guessing what they said.
