What usually breaks first
- Captions stop appearing after a platform update. Meeting platforms change their pages constantly; an extension that reads them needs a matching fix. Trippi takes the sound of the tab instead of reading the page, which is why a redesign does not silence it.
- The language you need was never added. A list frozen at ten languages stays frozen. Ours is at 66 and grows in waves.
- Support answers nobody. An abandoned extension has no one to write to. We answer from the site, and the address is on every page.
- It quietly asks for more permissions than it needs. Worth reading before reinstalling anything: a tool that is not maintained is also not audited.

How do I tell if my extension is abandoned?+
Its store listing shows the date of the last update. A year is a long time for a tool that depends on other companies’ web apps; three years means it is unmaintained in practice.
Can I keep both extensions installed?+
Yes. Nothing prevents it, and it is the honest way to compare them: run both on one real call and keep the one that works.
Will my old transcripts move over?+
No. Export them from the old extension first — most keep them in the browser. Trippi starts a fresh journal that also lives in your browser only.
Does Trippi read the platform’s own captions?+
No. It takes the sound of the browser tab and recognises it itself, which is why it works where the platform offers no captions at all, and why a platform redesign does not break it.
