Live translated captions in Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams (2026)
All three platforms can translate captions themselves, but only on a paid plan: Teams with Teams Premium or Microsoft 365 Copilot, Zoom on Business Plus and Enterprise or with the Translated Captions add-on, Meet on Workspace Business Standard and up. Chrome and Windows 11 translate captions at no extra cost, within their own limits. Below are the built-in options and third-party tools in one table, every row checked against the official page on 17 September 2026.

Where the built-in option is better — said plainly
- Desktop apps. If you are in the Zoom or Teams desktop app, a browser extension cannot hear it. Built-in translation in Teams and Zoom works inside their apps, and Windows 11 Live Captions captions any sound on the computer.
- A whole organisation at once. If your company already pays for Teams Premium or Copilot, the organizer’s licence opens translation to everyone in the meeting — nobody has to buy anything.
- Workspace on an eligible plan. Translated captions in Meet cover 69 languages with nothing to install.
- Captions in the spoken language, no translation. Meet, Zoom and Teams give these for free, and so do Chrome and Windows. Trippi has no such mode: its second line is always a translation into another language.
- An event for the whole audience. When every attendee needs translation, that is a job for the organiser and services like Wordly, not a personal extension.
Where an extension helps
Where built-in translation exists but switching it on is not up to you: a free or personal account, another company’s call where you are a guest, an organizer without the licence. The person who needs the translation installs the extension, and no administrator is involved.
Trippi’s honest limit: it is a browser on a computer only. The Zoom and Teams desktop apps, phones and sound in a room are not supported. Price per hour across extensions is on the price comparison page.

Every row was checked against the vendor’s own help or pricing page — not third-party reviews — on 17 September 2026, and linked in the last column. What the official page does not say is left out: Teams Premium and the Zoom add-on had no price on their support pages, so there is no number here.

Common questions
Can I get translated captions in Google Meet for free?+
Not from Meet itself: it needs Workspace Business Standard or higher. Free routes are Live Translate in Chrome (captions are sent to Google for translation) or an extension with a free tier.
Which licence does Teams need for translated captions?+
Teams Premium or Microsoft 365 Copilot. If the meeting organizer has one, every participant can use translated captions.
Are Zoom translated captions free?+
No. They come with Business Plus and Enterprise or as the Translated Captions add-on; automated captions must be on, and the host sets the language pairs.
Does any of this work in the Zoom or Teams desktop app?+
Built-in Teams and Zoom translation does, inside their apps. Windows 11 Live Captions does, for any sound. Browser extensions, Trippi included, do not.
Does a bot join the call?+
None of the tools in the table adds a bot to the call. With Wordly, the host installs and starts the app.
