Fast speech, a strong accent — read it instead of guessing.

Knowing the language is not the same as catching it at full speed.

Plenty of people read English every day and still lose a sentence on a call: a colleague who speaks twice as fast as a textbook, an accent you have met once, a bad microphone, three people talking over each other. Asking “sorry, could you repeat that?” works once. The third time it costs something. Trippi puts every sentence on screen as it is spoken, so a word you missed by ear is there to read.

Who this is for

• People working in a second language. You follow the meeting, but fast speech and unfamiliar accents make you spend attention on decoding instead of on the discussion. The original line lets you check the exact words; the translation line catches the sentence you would otherwise lose.
• Anyone on a call with very fast speakers. Standups, sales calls and panel discussions move quickly. The caption window keeps the last lines on screen and can be scrolled back, so one missed sentence does not mean the rest of the thread is lost.
• People with auditory processing difficulties. Some people hear the sound clearly and still find speech hard to follow in real time, especially with noise or crosstalk. Reading along is a common personal strategy. Trippi is a reading aid, not a treatment, and it does not diagnose or improve anything about hearing or processing.
• People who are hard of hearing and meet in a second language. The original line plus a translation into your own language, at a text size you set. If the call is in your own language, the free built-in captions described below fit you better. Either way, mind the limits: automatic captions miss words, lag slightly and can put a mistake on screen with confidence.

What you actually see

• The original line — what the speaker said, in the language they said it in.
• The translation line underneath, in your language. The two languages must differ: Trippi does not offer an English-to-English mode with no translation.
• Text size you control, separately for the original and the translation, plus position on screen and how many lines stay visible. The original line can be hidden if you only want the translation.
• A history you can reread. Scroll back during the call; after it, the transcript is kept in your browser and can be exported as text or Markdown.

If you only need captions in the language being spoken

Use what you already have. Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams each have their own live captions in the spoken language, and Chrome and Windows 11 can caption audio on the computer itself — Windows Live Captions also works for desktop apps, which a browser extension cannot reach.

Trippi is worth it when you want the second line: the translation into your own language, next to the original, on an account or a call where the platform will not give you one. A neutral side-by-side of the built-in options is on live translated captions in Zoom, Meet and Teams.

Where this is not enough

Automatic captions are not CART (real-time captioning by a trained human captioner) and not a qualified interpreter. Where accessibility law, a workplace or school accommodation, a medical appointment, a legal proceeding or an exam calls for a human captioner or interpreter, ask for one — do not replace it with this or any other automatic tool.

Speech recognition struggles with the same things people do: heavy crosstalk, a distant or muffled microphone, rare names and in-house jargon. It is also a moment behind the speaker. For a decision that matters, confirm the detail out loud.
