Translate a Zoom recording — in your language.

Zoom’s translated captions live in the meeting. They never make it into the recording.

Zoom sells translated captions as a paid add-on, and it is explicit about the limit: translated captions do not appear in the recording. What a recording can have is an audio transcript, on Pro plans and above, with the setting off by default — and that transcript is in the language that was spoken. So the person who missed the meeting, opened the share link a day later and does not speak that language is the one Zoom’s translation feature does not reach, no matter what the account paid for.

The viewer has no switch to find

Everything about a Zoom recording is decided before you see it: whether transcription was on, whether the account had the add-on, whether the host saved it to the cloud at all. By the time a link reaches you, there is nothing left to configure — you either got a transcript in a language you read, or you did not.

Trippi moves the decision to the person watching. It plays no part in the recording and asks the host for nothing; it listens to the tab and writes the translated line as the audio goes by.

A recording is the easy case

Live meetings punish you for looking away. A recording does not: if a passage was dense or the speaker rushed, you can rewind and let the subtitles run over it again, which is something no live translation can offer.

Keeping the recognised original above the translation is especially worth it here, because you have the time to use it — when a line reads oddly you can scrub back a few seconds and see exactly which word the recogniser heard.
